❗️🌻IMPORTANT WEEKEND UPDATE 🌻❗️
First, we CAN’T WAIT for this beautiful Mother’s Day opening weekend ahead! ☀️
However, we wanted to update you on the status of the flower fields with an important update! Here’s the key details:
❗️Our sunflowers & zinnias are just starting to bloom.
❗️Therefore, to preserve flowers for everyone to enjoy/take photos with, we will NOT have the flower field U-pick available on opening weekend (we are sad about it!)
❗️The good news? We WILL have the Strawberry U-Pick open!
Here’s the details:
- The past week has brought LOTS of rain and cloudy/cooler weather than we had hoped for. This has slowed the bloom of the flower fields. We WILL have sunflowers & zinnias blooming, just not as many as we had hoped for. It is the beginning of our flower field blooms and it looks like our “peak bloom” timeframe for our larger field is going to be closer to Memorial Day weekend. Therefore, if you are coming mainly for the flowers, we are recommending that you wait a weekend or two. If you are coming for the activities and some flowers, this is going to be a COOLER and BEAUTIFUL weekend to be at the farm!
- We are NOT going to allow any flowers to be picked on opening weekend. This will ensure that everyone has sunflowers and zinnias to enjoy and take photos with. Trust us, this is NOT ideal, but we are trying to ensure that our fields are not cut clean of what flowers we will have blooming. We’d rather lose flower sales than disappoint you; our customers.
- The mild weather means we still have strawberries! They are recovering from all the rain the past two weeks and we have a LOT of fruit that is about 1-2 days out from being ripe which means we WILL have strawberries to pick on Saturday! It is a first come, first serve basis and the Strawberry U-Pick will be open as long as we have berries to pick! Come early Saturday if you want to pick berries! They will be $6 per pound and we have the picking containers for you! (Keep in mind, admission is required to pick berries during the festival hours)
See y’all for the most beautiful opening weekend weather we’ve probably ever had… A Sunflower Festival weekend that we aren’t all sweating 🙂
